Park Lodge is beautifully situated in the middle of a prestigious Welsh country estate, close to the banks of the river Usk. It has an enormous private walled garden laid to lawn, a large sunny terrace and stunning views across to the foothills and mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park. This is the perfect place for a memorable holiday, a get-together for families or friends, or simply a lovely peaceful place to escape to for a special weekend or short break. Some superb outdoor activities can be had on the estate – fishing on the river Usk, and clay pigeon shooting; or lovely walks along the river and on footpaths around the estate. The whole house can be rented to sleep up to twelve people (plus up to two infants in cots), or the ground floor can be rented for up to five people (plus an infant in a cot) outside the school holidays. Park Lodge is elegant and full of character – by no means your average holiday house. Rooms are spacious, light-filled and decorated in the ‘Country House’ manner, the most timeless and comforting style of British interior design : good pictures and sporting prints, big comfortable sofas, a formal dining-room, elegant bedrooms, interesting wallcoverings and furnishings, faded chintz, plenty of good books, an Aga in the kitchen, and an open fire in the drawing-room.

But it is also a great family holiday house with a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Here, you will find all the necessary items – the ones you expect, and more - to make your holiday tranquil and hassle-free: a big flat-screen TV (including Sky TV and DVD etc), wifi, baby kit, tumble dryer, plenty of freezer space, bath robes, toiletries, fresh flowers and bottles of drinking water in each bedroom, plus numerous indoor and outdoor games.

Downstairs, there is a big well-equipped kitchen with Aga and utility room next door, a formal dining room with a table large enough to seat 14 and French doors out to the terrace, a very spacious drawing room with open fire and superb views out of generous windows. Separated by the roomy hallway, there is a single bedroom, a double bedroom with ensuite, a twin bedroom, a family bathroom and a separate loo. Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms (one with ensuite), a twin bedroom (with ensuite) and a single bedroom.

Outside, a stone-flagged terrace wraps around the house – the perfect place to sit in the sun and enjoy the view, to watch small children play safely in the garden or to enjoy some al fresco eating. Stone steps lead down to the big grassy lawn – a dream for energetic kids, and superb for those who enjoy summer games like croquet and boules.

The Brecon Beacons National Park, with its wild beauty and apparently endless outdoor activities, is just on the doorstep. Pony-trekking, mountain-biking, hiking, wildlife-watching, climbing, paragliding, caving and canoeing can all be enjoyed in this beautiful outdoor playground. Local towns – Crickhowell, Brecon and Abergavenny – provide great shopping and eating out. This is the ‘Dordogne of Britain’ with the annual Abergavenny Food Festival in September and Christmas Fair in December, busy farmers’ markets, and superb restaurants (The Walnut Tree Inn, The Hardwick and the Felin Fach Griffin to name just a few). Good pubs and bistros abound, too, with the Nantyffin Cider Mill very close to Park Lodge (and owned by the estate) – handy for when the cook of the family needs a day off.
