Downstairs, the bedroom is a wonderful calming space, with a super-comfortable king-size bed, dressing-table, and French doors out to the garden. The bathroom is big and luxurious, with a bath, separate shower, loo and hand basin.
The garden has a private space to sit and enjoy the view across to the Preseli mountains. This is a perfectly unspoilt rural view, with the timeless sight of sheep grazing, ancient stone walls, and the distant sound of the river a field away.
THINGS TO DO AROUND THE GRANARY
Walks from the door are wonderful. You can walk towards the Preselis, and even up into the mountains, if you wish. It is about a 30-minute walk up to the nearest peak at Carnalw, where you will be rewarded by some magical views of the coast. Or, if you are feeling like a more demanding walk, you can reach the highest peak in the Preselis, Foel Cwm Cerwyn, in about an hour and a half. The coast is a short drive away for walking the famous coastal path or for enjoying the beautiful beaches of Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion. Cycling is good, too. Newport is a pretty town, just 10 minutes' drive away, with good places to eat, a good path along the Nevern estuary for dog-walking, and a lovely long dune-fringed sandy beach. Close by, too, is Narberth, a bustling market town with good shopping – good food shops, an excellent Spanish deli with café, and some nice boutiques. The small city of St. David's with its important cathedral, superb visitors' information centre, good shops and cafes is 30 minutes' drive away. The beautiful harbour town of Tenby, with its colourful Georgian town houses and bow windows facing both the harbour and the immense sandy town beach, is 50 minutes away. The Old Sailors (01348 811 491) is a great little restaurant right beside the beach at Dinas Cross. The Golden Lion is a good pub in Newport for food, and Llys Meddyg offers special fine dining cuisine for a special occasion.
The Wildlife Centre at the Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve is great for seeing otters, for walks, and canoeing.
