A beautifully converted Pembrokeshire cow byre over looking the Preseli Mountains in the Pembrokeshire National Park, Dolaumaen Isaf is perfect for those seeking peaceful surroundings with lyrical views. Decorated with lovely paintings, interesting ceramics, textiles and Welsh country antiques, this really comfortable cottage for 1 to 2 couples (plus a child in an adjoining room), an infant and up to 2 good dogs, makes an enchanting getaway. Not only is Dolaumaen Isaf a fantastic place for a holiday or a short break, but it's also an inspirational place just to stay and be – a feast for all the senses. If you can bear to drag yourself away from the cottage, all the joys of Pembrokeshire are on your doorstep – from beaches and coastal paths, to wildlife centres, good restaurants and lovely towns.
Downstairs, the light and spacious – but cosy – living area comprises a really well-equipped kitchen, a comfortable sitting-area with a superb wood burning stove, and a dining area with large windows, giving spectacular views across to the Preseli mountains. It is a few steps up to the perfectly-appointed bathroom, and on to the spacious master bedroom with its wonderful Regency four-poster bed with Welsh tapestry-weave hangings. There is underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, so it is a delight to pad about in the winter in bare feet. The first floor is up a narrow spiral staircase, where there is a double bedroom in the eaves, with a lovely view of fields and trees, plus an adjoining single bedroom – perfect for a child (or for an infant in a cot). The garden is a great place for running around and playing games, watching the rich bird life, or just for soaking up the sun and enjoying the views on the private stone-flagged patio.
There is a real sense of wildness and of time stood still in this landscape. The Stonehenge bluestones were quarried from a crag facing the proeprty, lending this place a wonderful feeling of ancientness. The fact that this is all in the Pembrokeshire National Park means that it is protected. Cows, ponies and sheep graze peacefully in nearby fields, and there are some delightful goats in a neighbouring farm (The Preseli Mohair Centre).

"What a wonderful place - utterly, utterly tranquil and relaxing (a must-have in holidays with 3 small boys!). The boys have been completely in their element, playing in the beautiful garden and in their 'den' upstairs. It is a great testament to how well the cottage works that our one day of not-so-great weather actually felt like a treat... not a bit of cabin fever in sight!" Alex and Rebecca, Dusseldorf
