The living area is the upper floor, and you reach it via a lobby from the front door. The hallway walls are decorated with a delicious leafy green wallpaper, connecting you visually to the woodland outside and setting the theme for the whole property. The living room is all open-plan, open to the eaves and light and airy. Glass doors from the dining-area take you out into the private outside space, stylishly furnished with a garden sofa and armchair – a great place for a BBQ, a drink, or a peaceful breakfast.

The bedrooms are downstairs, and you go down a flight of wooden stairs, cleverly under-lit so as to light your way, but also creating what looks like a piece of contemporary art. The two bedrooms are mirror image to each other in their lay-out, with king-size beds and their own fabulously luxurious ensuite bathrooms.

Dining room

The outside space comprises an enclosed gated area with a generous parking space and a gateway out into the woods; a sitting-out area with bench and brazier at the front; and a private sitting-out area to the back, looking onto ancient woodland. There's also a play area with treehouse and rope bridge leading to a viewing-platform, swings, and a trampoline - something for all ages.

From the visitors book at Up in the Woods

'What an absolutely fantastic place, and a fantastic holiday! We've loved every minute of our stay here and explorations of the local area. Oxwich bay and Three Cliffs Bay both great for kids. Three Cliffs is breath-taking as you walk down the beach. Willow absolutely loved the horses. We'll definitely be back!' Sam, Suzie, Willow & Harriet, from Birmingham

'Thank you for such a warm and friendly welcome! Up In The Woods is a little gem! The cottage has everything you need and is so cosy - perfect for those rainy days! The woodland and meadow are great for exploring – Penny (the collie) loved her walks. The children loved the ponies - as did I! If we return, I'll remember to bring my riding gear. With best wishes Fiona, Richard, Matthew, Abbie and Penny. PS Thanks for the welsh cake recipe - will be trying this out very soon!' The Bowen family, Birmingham

'Thank you so much for a fantastic mini break! Up In The Woods is a stunning conversion and has everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed going for a muddy walk and meeting your lovely horses. We would highly recommend your wonderful barn and we will be back to visit soon, I am sure. Thank you for everything.' Fiona & David, Lydd

'Thanks Leah and Lee, A wonderful time was had by all! Thanks for such a lovely welcome, the bread was delicious, brilliant reading material and DVDs around too, we felt at home straight away. Sad to leave, so much on your doorstep - Brecon (train trip or drive through) is amazing. Rhosilli, Oxwich and all those bays are beautiful. Tenby Castle beach was gorgeous and worth the short journey. So much more we didn't see...but we will be back! We've loved staying in this fantastic barn, comfortable and clean and so well thought out.' Julian & Suzy, Maidenhead

'We had a wonderful time in this fantastic barn. Very well thought out and everything you could possibly need was provided. The warm bread and welsh cakes were a great welcome.' Sonya, Alex, Nathan, Ellie, Alfie & Lola, Flintshire

'We all have been suitably impressed by 'Up In The Woods' and wished we could have stayed longer (we'll have to come back when the sun shines!) Despite the horrendous weather, the beaches were still fantastic; especially the bay bistro at Rhosilli is worth a mention as a welcome respite from the rain and wind! Many Thanks Leah and well done on creating such a fabulous transformation the barn - it would be good to see some 'before and after' photos on the walls...and thanks for accommodating us all!' Teresa, Martin, Thomas, Jonty & Ella Kate, Esher

'First guests to stay in 'Up In The Woods', over the moon with the whole experience. Great owners and lovely family spirit. We will be back.' Mohsen & Natalie, London
